Town hall meeting Saturday, June 15th
Posted on Jun 5th, 2013
This message is alert home owners to the upcoming town hall meeting on Saturday, June 15th from 10am to 1pm at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center at the University of Maryland. Registration is FREE. Go to www.planpgc2035.com
This is an opportunity for Upper Marlboro home owners to identify the location of a new “DOWNTOWN” area that the county is planning. Branch Avenue is one of the locations near Upper Marlboro that is being considered. Money (10s of millions of dollars) and resources will be devoted to development.
Can you imagine a place close to Upper Marlboro or Bowie, with hip restaurants, entertaining venues and quality shopping not too far from where we reside? Well if you like some of the changes in shopping (BJ's Bed Bath and Beyond) that have taken place in the past couple of years, please know that Prince George’s County government and the county council are still actively working to improve our county. They need your input.
Also, USING ELECTRONIC VOTING PADS for instant results (like we see on TV), COMPUTERS and group discussion, this FUN and INTERACTIVE meeting, will include home owners like yourself, business representatives and other stakeholders in the county. This is your opportunity to participate in the economic development of Prince George’s County.
You will weigh on many issues that effect Prince George’s County and its economic future.
If Upper Marlboro and neighboring communities are not represented mightily at this town hall on June 15th, we can expect this hip exciting location to be constructed elsewhere in the county instead of our backyard.
Recommendations that emerge from this meeting will be submitted to the County Council for action later this year.
This is your chance to be counted and your opinions on a range of issues to be heard.
Let's participate and not let ourselves be outnumbered by other areas of the county and as a result watch those development dollars go in another direction.
